Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

In their own words

I changed to a petrol car in the main due to the Volksvagen scandal and city pollution figures also the possibility of councils/government penalising diesel engined cars. I love this petrol engined car due to the quiet tick-over and smooth running engine. It is a very fluid smooth drive due to weighting of clutch, steering and breaking. To be achieving almost 40 mpg for a car this size is excellent but I am a fairly gentle driver keeping to legal speeds. This tourer has more than enough space for our holiday needs i.e. regular visits to our static caravan with my wife and dog. I much prefer a car of this stability and smooth cornering ability to MPVs, SUV's and 4x4s. The 320d is approx. £2500 more expensive. 320i running costs are approx £300 per 10k miles more. So for a low mileage private buyer petrol makes sense.

How reliable do you find the car?

This is my 3rd 3 series tourer and have not had any problems apart from a replacement luggage compartment cover on my last car.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

After having diesel cars for approx 15 years I was a little wary of returning to a petrol engine due to mpg. The two 318d engines returned 52mpg over 60k miles. This 2.0i has achieved 39.5mpg over the first 4k miles. I did achieve 44 on one run but gentle driving and quite a few miles at 50mph through long roadworks. Very happy with this result. One major point is that there is virtually no engine breaking due to the free-revving highly geared engine. This can be quite a shock at first if you use your gears to break. Even dropping two gears say from 5th to 3rd has little effect.
