In their own words

I bought the car a 520d Efficient Dynamics model at 2 and a half years old with 29k on the clock. A snip at £18k. After 2 and a bit years of ownership it now has 70k miles. I have not had a single problem with the car. I'm very happy with it. Service interval is 18k miles although I know a lot owners change the oil more frequently. Road tax is only £30. Economy is fantastic given the car is quite nippy. I have a BMW sevice plan which covers the labour but beware main dealer service parts prices! The car needed new pads and discs all round at 60k - £1100 for the parts. Outrageous. Indie specialist prices for the same parts was £600. Now the car is approaching 5 years old it will be an indepent specialist once the current service plan expires. It is well equipped, comfortable and reliable, and I would definitely recommend the 520d. I yearn for a 530d or 535d having had one before but how often do I need the extra power? Not often, and the insurance, road tax and fuel costs are considerably more. I'll probably get one anyway but still recommend this model - a reasonably priced way into 5 series ownership.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

The economy on the motorway is amazing at the level of performance and heated rear seats a bonus.
