Other Chevrolet Lacetti (2005 - 2011) models:

  • Summary

    1 out of 5 1.0

What does this car say about you?

That I am so stupid to trust in a car company that was Korean, and bought by GM thinking that a Lacetti would be a good car to drive considering it is used on a popular motoring show!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Family sort of like it, friends don't care so long as they get a free ride. So I don't really care.

Would you buy this car again and why?

No way, never ever will I buy a Chevrolet again. Ssave your money and buy anything but this car.

What are you likely to buy next?

    Anything but this...

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £2,100

When did you buy the car?

    March 2013

Did you get a good deal and why?

Thought I got a good deal and, coming from a 1990s car, I was looking forward to taking it out and not having to worry about it falling apart or breaking down like my old car.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Price was good, the comfort was good, it's good to look at (sort of). I was happy until I first started driving it, then it all fell apart!

    What was the dealer like?

    Friendly and good on price.

  • Driving it

    1 out of 5 1.0

    What's it like to drive?

It's terrible! The steering wheel feels wrong, along with the seats that are awful with no side bolstering - I slip out of them a lot and don't feel like it's in front of the wheel, the gearstick is like a branch from a tree, the pedals are a total joke, clutch too light and travels too far back, the accelerator is too tight and ruins any driving fun at all, the car has no feel that you are driving a car at all. It's just shocking that a car like this was ever made...

    What's it like to park?

    Very easy.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

YES! When testing the car it had a strange feel to it, I put it down to getting used to to a new car, only problem is it stayed with it until a month later. When driving the car it judders back and forth, when it get's up to 25mph in 2nd and 3rd gear, it feels like it has asthma. Cruising at 30mph and for no reason the engine feels low on power, and starts to jerk back and forth i.e. juddering. Something to do with the EGR valve, I am told, not tried it yet but supposed to be easy to fix, even if you have a very low skill with engines. So be careful if buying make sure it has NO hesitation, at all, otherwise walk away. To be honest save and buy a better car period!

What's most practical about your car?

Size of the car, easy to park, easy to drive - if only the juddering would stop then it would be an OK car to drive.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

I like the boot opener - my old car was heavy to lift and really clumsy to open, when with heavy shopping and such. But that's it! The CD player has no treble only bass settings, it's rubbish to use. And nothing else floats my boat, as they say, everything else is just average.
