The Berlingo is reasonably priced, but many buyers will be looking at the fairly lengthy options list which includes various ‘packs’. Running costs and insurance should be fairly reasonable, although many people will see the benefit of the lower fuel consumption of the diesel.

Running costs were lower still following the refresh in 2015, which introduced five diesel engines and a highest CO2 output of just 115g/km.

The Berlingo Multispace is a relatively efficient range with modestly sized engines and power outputs. Carbon dioxide emissions of up to 150g/km for the diesels is pretty good, and 195g/km for the petrol models is acceptable for a car of this size. The cleanest model is actually the most powerful 110bhp diesel which emits 147g/km of CO2 – it’s also the best for economy, averaging just over 50mpg.

Following the refresh in 2015 you can now have a Berlingo with between 109 and 115g/km depending upon engine choice.

The Multispace should be mechanically robust, although there are more electronic features available in this version of the Berlingo. Most of the features are also fitted to other Citroën models and should prove generally reliable, but they may be seen as more items that could go wrong.
