Other Citroën C5 (2008 - 2018) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

I neither know nor care about how my choices are viewed by others: the car meets a very precise and very personal set of requirements, and that's all that matters.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They are universally impressed by its looks, and even more so by its luxury and quality. It's clearly not what they expect in a Citroen!

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes and no: I'd like it to be a size smaller, but otherwise it's almost perfect!

What are you likely to buy next?

A Citroen C5 Exclusive Touring, but with the 2.2L engine, for even better overtaking on country roads!

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £22,700

When did you buy the car?

    September 2010

Did you get a good deal and why?

Haggled a hefty discount to start with - and then got full leather at half cost to dealer, because the sales muppet ordered the wrong spec.!

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Ride comfort, to accommodate painful back condition.

    What was the dealer like?

Very laid back salesman, willing to cut to the bone to make his target. Very accommodating over test drives and demos, even lent us his own car when the MOT ran out on our trade-in a fortnight before delivery.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

It' great to drive: light controls, precise steering and an eager engine, with no flat spots or hesitation in the auto 'box, especially in sport mode - though I can't vouch for the mapped version of this engine.

    What's it like to park?

It's big and has a large turning circle, but the steering is light. Just cough up for the optional front parking sensors!

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

No problems over these first three years, not even new wipers to get through its first MOT. The service staff are very enthusiastic about the "huge" improvement in quality over the previous C5 .

What's most practical about your car?

Just being a large estate car, albeit more lifestyle than load lugger, makes it suitable for just about any use you might make of a car - without compromising ride and handling, thanks to the adaptive suspension.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Nothing special: there's a gadget for everything you want, and then some, but the parking sensors front and rear are a godsend when parking a front wheel drive car of this size.
