Other Citroën C5 (2008 - 2018) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

I like a big car style, with plenty of power and good fuel consumption. This one is a great combination of these factors. Visually its much more pleasing on the eye than the earlier C5 hatch.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They think its a rather more expensive beast than it really is.

Would you buy this car again and why?

I think so; maybe haven't had it long enough and driven far enough to be sure. Maybe would settle for the 2.0 l rather than the 2.2.

What are you likely to buy next?

Don't know. Maybe the 2.0 l version of the C5 Tourer.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £6,800

When did you buy the car?

    July 2012

Did you get a good deal and why?

Bought from BCA at Measham. My first venture into auctions. Did not fit my stereotype of seedy types selling old bangers. The car was de-leased by Citroen UK. Reckon to have got it about £2000 under forecourt price.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Happy with previous C5 hatch which was written off.

    What was the dealer like?

Little contact. Website provides plenty of pre-purchase information inc photos. BCA seemed a slick operation. Note £400 purchase charge on top of auction price.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Easy and comfortable with plenty of torque and acceleration. The real bonus is the liquid suspension which makes it the ultimate comfortable ride. With 173 bhp under the bonnet its a beast. Fuel consumption rather lower than my previous 56 reg C5 hatch.

    What's it like to park?

This is a big car; parking sensors help alot.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Nothing has gone seriously wrong. A small piece of chrome leaf has lifted from the electric handbrake lever which cut my hand; the cruise control occasionally sets itself to PAUSE and cannot be re-set without switching the car off and re-booting.

What's most practical about your car?

Load space; reverse sensors; kerb lighting; ride comfort - this car is desgned for motorway cruising.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Remote tailgate opening....but also the most iurritating since it is disabled when the car goes into ECONOMY MODE, which it does quite frequently.
