What does this car say about you?

I do not follow the pack.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They like it. It is probably too left field for most of them and they would worry about depreciation, reliability, etc. But they still comment on it 5 years after I bought it and I have lost a lot less than they have over 5 years with their BMW's Mercedes, etc.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes, it is the best car I have ever driven.

What are you likely to buy next?

If I could find a nearly new C6 (one is on the market but has a high mileage and is very expensive) that does not cost the earth it would be a C6. But, as my children have now grown up and are driving it will probably be a downsize to a DS3. The C6 has sold me on Citroen's.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £17,500

When did you buy the car?

    May 2008

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes. I advised Howards Citroen of the model, specification and price I wanted to pay and they found the car for me. It was just over 1 year old, with 3,600 miles on the clock and was half original list price.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Safety, Comfort, Style & it is not a BMW.

    What was the dealer like?

    Wonderful

    What's it like to drive?

The best cruiser their is. Lots of torque, almost silent cruising and comfort beyond belief make distances melt away. It is not a sports car but is okay on the twisty bits. If I wanted a sports car with a rubbish ride that made my children's, and therefore my, journeys unbearable I would have bought a BMW. But I like my children and it is great to see them sleeping as the miles fly by.

    What's it like to park?

Easy. Yes it is large, but with good parking sensors and good all around visibility it is a doddle.

Have you had any problems with the car?

3 faults in 5 years and 105,000 miles. 1. The central hard drive failed, which was replaced under warranty. 2. The clutch failed in very heavy traffic after 80,000 miles. This was expensive due to there being no aftermarket products available. 3. All 4 roll bars failed after about 90,000. Not massively expensive, but still a pain.

What's most practical about your car?

Comfort and safety. I can drive 400 miles and get out of the car refreshed. Nothing else is anywhere near as good at cruising. It is the safest car I have ever owned. 5 star driver and passenger safety (why are ratings listed only for the driver) and a full 4 stars for pedestrians. It also has laminated windows all around (a thief cannot smash them), is the only car Thatcham has failed to break into and even has an SOS button on the dash which connects directly to the emergency services.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

I have to list 3: 1. Head up display - wonderful & very safe; 2. Proper round corner lights - every car should have them; 3. A built in hard drive - all my music without having to carry an ipod with me.
