• Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

I appreciate style and space without wanting to follow the usual trend of the German manufactures.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They are all remarkably impressed by the build quality. It all feels very solid inside which, considering Citroen's reputation, is surprising!

Would you buy this car again and why?

I think perhaps I would go for the 2.0HDi rather than the 1.6 just for that extra level of effortlessness. Otherwise yes I would!

What are you likely to buy next?

    I'd love to get a DS5 or a C5 Tourer if I can!

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £9,000

When did you buy the car?

    October 2014

Did you get a good deal and why?

We were desperate to get out of a finance agreement with a Hyundai i20 1.2 which was no longer fit for purpose due to high motorway mileage. Though the interest rate was not overly competitive they were willing to significantly discount to get things through. The car came with full history and a single former owner and was sold at a very reasonable price!

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Excellent treatment by dealership, good standard equipment and a deal to get out of negative equity.

    What was the dealer like?

Courteous, efficient and friendly. I especially liked being able to go for a test drive without the salesman. They were willing to haggle down to a good rate. Very confident in their product!

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Like most Peugeot/Citroen diesels I have driven there's a reasonable amount of turbolag but once you get it in the zone it really shifts. More than enough power for most drivers. Cruises along the motorway at legal limit under 2k rpm so very relaxed! Ride is actually quite firm for a Citroen but the seats are so good you can forgive it. The trade off is quite responsive handling so I think it's worth it!

    What's it like to park?

Electric power steering and rear parking sensors so not too bad at all. Nice and light though the car is quite large. Rear window is pretty small so you learn to mirror park a lot more than window park. I've not yet found a space I can't get into (unless it is quite obviously too small for this type of car).

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Nothing whatsoever. It's just ticked past 40,200 on the clock and it's still going strong. The USB connection to my iPod is perhaps slightly temperamental but only in the sense it sometimes skips tracks twice when it changes. Otherwise the car has been exceedingly reliable throughout our ownership.

What's most practical about your car?

Genuine room inside for 5 adult occupants. The car is quite wide so theres good width space in the back. The boot is decent sized (even if the loading lip is large) and its set up for long distance cruising which suits us down to the ground.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Massaging seats/cruise control or USB/Bluetooth stereo. The seats only massage the lumbar support but that's usually enough to iron out any long distance travel pains. The cruise control system uses a separate digital speed "target" rather than simply being on at whatever speed you last used which I think is great. USB/Bluetooth connection is very good, much better than most cars I have used and can be controlled FULLY from the steering wheel. Perfect!
