What does this car say about you?

That I've had no money and had to buy my dad's car and I'm being rapidly left behind by more technological cars, and that's not hard!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They think it's alright, especially when you're sent to buy the whole of Sainbury's on the Christmas run. My dad prefers the handling of his Citroen Berlingo.

Would you buy this car again and why?

No. This car was OK in 1997 when it was first built, but was instantly obsolete by offerings from Ford, Skoda or Volkswagen.

What are you likely to buy next?

Something with 3 doors, I need something sporty to play with, and a car in which I can enjoy driving.

    N/A

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Was my Father in Law's car from new in 1998, looked a bargain as it only had 31,000 miles on the clock. Was also impressed by the size and comfort levels.

    What was the dealer like?

  • Driving it

    What's it like to drive?

It's easy to drive and does like to sit at 70 on the motorway. Driving around bendy roads and town is hard work as the ungainly Leganza has the turning circle of a battleship. Very scary to drive at any speed on A & B roads as there's massive amounts of body roll and understeer; there are no motorways on holiday sometimes and the Leganza can be a pain.

    What's it like to park?

If you're a good driver, you know your vehicle and the spaces it can fit into.

Have you had any problems with the car?

Track rod end, all electric windows sticking, standard first generation alloy wheels are abysmal and had to be replaced due to manic corrosion, climate control unit has packed up and no one can find the solution!

What's most practical about your car?

Huge boot space and room for front seat passengers. Although rear seat room is disappointing for a car of this length.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The auto climate control seemed slick, but it soon gets annoying as the unit is not very accurate, also keeps switching on the A/C using fuel. Make sure it has cruise control which became available on later model Leganzas.
