In their own words

This is the second cougar that I’ve owned, and I’m a bit biased as I absolutely love them. There’s something about owning a fairly rare car which truly is underrated. They were never particularly popular from new, partly because of the “controversial” styling and because it had the Capri’s boots to fill, nonetheless it’s a well built, comfortable cruiser that has a decent amount of grunt. The engine is pretty torquey from low revs, and it hums along quietly until you put your foot down and you get a nice v6 growl. If you manage to find an x-pac which is the version I have, you will find the leather seats to be very comfortable and nice to look at, the interior is actually quite a nice place to be (unless you are a passenger in the back, whoever designed those seats must have had some kind of serious spinal condition). I was lucky to find a cougar with only 34k on the clock, so no reliability issues to speak of thus far.
