Other Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) models:

  • Summary

    2 out of 5 2.0

What does this car say about you?

    Getting older, stable, sensible.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

    OK.

Would you buy this car again and why?

No. Ride too bumpy. 1.8TDi (90hp) engine is quite powerful but could handle more power.

What are you likely to buy next?

Don't know. Never truly satisfied with cars so might start a car manfuacturers business & take on the world.

  • Buying experience

    3 out of 5 3.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £3,800

When did you buy the car?

    March 2007

Did you get a good deal and why?

Paid less than list price but car had done high miles so got a reasonable deal.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

To replace my old car. To get better fuel economy.

    What was the dealer like?

Tip: I find dealers sometimes leak information to you. This dealer asked if my old car needed a new gearbox. The car I bought from him has a problem with the gearbox which I didn't pick up. He was being funny I think, so when buying a car study the dealer as much as the car.

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

Handles extremely well at low speeds with PAS. Not so refined turning at speed as the PAS steering wheel wants to stay in the centre. The bumpy LX model doesn't give full confidence at speed.

    What's it like to park?

    Extremely easy with power steering.

  • Living with it

    3 out of 5 3.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

The gearbox isn't completely smooth. The ride on the LX model is jumpy & uncomfortable. I believe Zetec model has a firmer ride & Iwould definitely go for the firmer ride.

What's most practical about your car?

Economy is good (51mpg) & it has more space.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

    Aircon. Electric windows, doors, etc.
