It’s the dash that really lets this small roadster down. It highlights that Ka is an old design, dating back to the mid 1990s. The functional, basic, look doesn’t live up to the promise of the glamorous exterior styling. The driving position is slightly flawed, too: the pedals are well placed, but space is limited for the clutch foot because of an intruding piece of trim.

Also, the seats do not offer enough lower back support for long journeys. The instruments are clear and easy to read, although a few of the controls, such as the switch for the heated seat (where fitted) can be hidden away. Great forward visibility and despite the small rear screen, the view from the back is still acceptable.

With Ka’s usual backseat gone in favour of the fold-down roof housing, the front seats are a bit bigger and there’s adequate room for two adults. Seats are supportive. Leather and heated options available.
