  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

Man who can afford a very desireable model. Enjoys driving fast cars.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Quieter than my last car which had a loud exhaust. That gonna change soon, I have plans.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Honda need to bring out more Type R cars. Keep the Type R badge desireable. I probably wouldn't buy another but another red badged Honda.

What are you likely to buy next?

A rear wheeled drive car. BMW 5 series rear wheel drive, 6 or 8 cylinders.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £9,200

When did you buy the car?

    July 2012

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes it was priced at £10,000. I managed to get it for £9.200. I lost out on a good part exchange price though. The car had no MOT and needed work done to get it passed. It didn't get that much interest privetely.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I really like Honda's. I owned a 1.6L 2003 model. A friend had also just bought a Type R 2003 model for a steal of about 3500. I originally wanted one of those but realized I could afford the most recent Type R for a very reasonable price.

    What was the dealer like?

Plesent he did offer extra stuff I don't think were worth it like paint protection which he ended up throwing in for free. GAP insurance again not worth the cost.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

It feels more of an open road cruser. The steering doesn't give much feel. it's accurate but doesn't give feedback of the road surface. The gearbox means third is used for most driving eg roundabouts open corners. 4th is a cruseing gear which I like.

    What's it like to park?

The wing mirrors are huge so you don't need to see out the rubbish rear window. Easy, but I drive and park trucks and a vans in my day job.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

No I have had a knock in a car park which knocked out the bumper which a bodyshop had to put right. Bodyshop said it's often happens with civics. The design means it's difficult to fit back without refitting the bumper.

What's most practical about your car?

The rear seats fold flat so I can put my mountain bike in without taking off the wheels. Lots of room inside for passengers. also has a compartment in the boot to store stuff so they don't roll around the boot.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The cruse control. The 7000rpm power all the way to the 8000rpm redline. The rev counter and the indicator when you get close to the 8000rpm redline.
