In their own words

I took quite a time to choose this car as a replacement for a 10 year old Toyota Corolla, which I may add was excellent. All the reviews for the i20 commented on the "gutless engines", i.e. 1.2 and the 1.4 petrol engines the car had so I waited until Feb/Mar 2016 when the new 1.0 litre turbo engine (100hp) was coming out and I am glad I did. Having driven all three cars I found the 1.0 turbo was much better although I didn't feel the other engine version were that bad at all. The 1.0 litre engine is very nippy and the SE version is very well specced. The Premium models and upwards have better gismos etc but they also have my pet hate...........privacy glass, a personal thing. The 1.0 litre turbo has emissions of 99 so there is no road tax to pay throughout the life of the car, a big plus. We now come to my other pet hate with car manufacturers.......petrol consumption.....why don't they tell the truth? Around town driving and my i20 is little better than my Corolla, perhaps I just like to hoof it a bit but I don't think so, it is obviously better on a run although I haven't as yet given it a really good run. To keep the weight down for emission purposes Hyundai dispose of a spare wheel, not even a space saver just a temporary tyre repair kit, not a big fan of those but don't have choice with that model. An easy car to drive, although I think the Corolla gearbox was slicker, with a well laid out dashboard with everything at hand and all so simple to use and comes with some great bits of kit. Also, I forgot this, very spacious with a good boot for the size of car. I would recommend the car unreservedly to anyone, if you are thinking of one, test drive the 1.0 litre turbo, 100 or 120 hp outputs and I am sure you will agree with me how good they are.
