In their own words

Purchased new, this wasn’t a cheap car but we thought it offered good value for money considering all the extras at no extra cost. Over the past 6 years, it has been reliable mechanically, although it has suffered from numerous small, annoying issues due to poor quality (see below). Some of these issues were addressed within warranty but some weren’t. This car also has quite short servicing intervals and we have found servicing costs to be quite high compared to other cars we’ve owned including Audis and BMWs. Overall we’ve been disappointed and won’t buy a Hyundai again. Our next car will be a more premium brand with a slightly higher purchase price but a lower total cost of ownership (and fewer trips to the garage). Issues encountered: - Intermittent failure to start due to a software fault. Took two years to diagnose including 5 visits to the dealership. Required replacement of EMS (under warranty). - Intermittent problem with climate control not working. Still not diagnosed but almost certainly software-related. Requires complete shutdown and restart of vehicle when it occurs. - Reversing camera failed and needed replacing (under warranty). - Rear door jammed due to central locking problem. Currently cannot be opened. - LED driving lights failed. Needed replacing (out of warranty). - Boot release switch failed, preventing boot from opening. Needed replacing (out of warranty). - Driver’s door handle fell apart and needed replacing (out of warranty). - Alloy wheels badly corroded.
