There’s a huge amount of safety kit available on the Q30, even at base-spec SE level. While it hasn’t been crash-tested by Euro NCAP yet, its donor car – the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, scored very well, hitting the five star mark easily, so there’s no reason the Q30 will do any worse than that.

Vast array of Infiniti Q30 safety kit as standard

Even SE cars get the following useful safety kit: seven airbags, traction control, ABS, an electronic parking brake, an emergency frontal braking system, hill-start assist, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring, ISOFIX child seat lashing points in the rear and a tyre repair kit in the boot.

Higher specs get more equipment still

Models with 19-inch alloys get run-flat tyres, while some trim levels get traffic sign recognition along with a speed limiter, cruise control (can be adaptive with automatic gearboxes), lane-departure warning, rain-sensing wipers, adaptive headlights and an automatic parking system along with rear-view and around-view cameras.

There’s also the Safety Pack, which lumps in blind spot monitoring with the aforementioned automatic parking system and adaptive cruise control if you’ve got the auto’ gearbox.

Compared to rivals, Infiniti Q30 practicality is about average. Its boot measures 368 litres in capacity, which is competitive against the Mercedes-Benz A-Class hatchback but less so against the Audi A3 Sportback, and it has a relatively high loading lip but a decently sized square-shaped opening. The rear seats fold down in a 60:40 split and feature an armrest containing two cup-holders, which join with the two up front between the front seats.

There are decent-sized door bins in each door too and a glovebox of ample size to hide personal objects away from prying eyes.

Adult rear seat passengers are likely to be a little cramped, though, especially in terms of knee space and headroom.
