Jaguar F-Type R Coupe safety levels are very high. While the Coupe hasn’t been crash-tested by Euro NCAP at this point, there’s rather a lot of standard safety kit and lots more available as optional extras at an extra cost.

You get four airbags, a clever braking system which keeps better control of the car thanks to more control over which brakes are applied and when.

There’s also the bonnet, which is set to rise in the event of colliding with a pedestrian. This should mitigate the effect on the person you’ve hit.

Optional safety equipment includes intelligent high beam headlights (which flick from dipped to high beam automatically), rear parking camera, an automatic parking system, blind spot monitoring and a system which will warn you that a vehicle is approaching quickly from behind.

There’s not a huge amount of difference between Jaguar F-Type R Coupe practicality and that of the regular Coupe.

Thankfully it’s got a bigger boot than the convertible – its 407 litres trumps the handbag-sized luggage space in the drop-top by quite a margin, bringing the F-Type into competition with family hatchbacks in the boot race.

It may be worth considering the electric powered tailgate too if you’re likely to use the boot a lot.
