What is miles per pound?
Fuel economy
A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test.
Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 27 - 50 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

The diesel models offer the lowest running costs as fuel and company car tax are quite costly on the bigger petrol units while depreciation is fairly heavy for a premium car. Servicing schedules are rather frequent too – especially compared with the variable intervals of German rivals, however you should be treated well by Jaguar dealers.
After the diesel was launched, this became the best-selling engine variant in the X-Type range. The 2.0-litre diesel is the cleanest model, it emits 149g/km of CO2 and returns 50mpg.
The reliability of the X-Type has been generally very good. Occasional imperfections have been reported but dealers are quick to provide a solution and Jaguar routinely tops customer satisfaction surveys in the US.
