In their own words

I bought the XFS (3.0 Supercharged) after months of agonising over various different models. I had originally been looking at the previous shape XFR, however 15mpg around town was unjustifiable even for a petrolhead such as myself. I wasn't aware of the existence of the X260 XFS until a dealer I test drove an XFR at had one in stock, in part because it was only sold for just under two years (making around 500). Acceleration is comparable to the X250 R, being only 0.1 seconds slower to 62 (thanks to being I believe around 150kg lighter). My sense was handling was better than the previous shape R (again, attributable to lower weight), though not as sharp on the limit as the previous shape R-S (which has a trick LSD). However the difference in economy was 8-10mpg in like-for-like driving; I get around 24mpg with mixed London/M25 driving, and have (once) seen 40mpg on a run. I should note here that I have a right foot made of pure lead. It's a rather difficult car to pigeon-hole, in terms of the German competition. It isn't quite as hard/fast/expensive as an M5/RS6, however it's more of a performance car than (for instance) a 540i. It's a fantastically comfortable and cabale cruiser, but will happily rip your face off when you ask it to, which surely is the point of a performance saloon (I tend to find the modern German offerings are great at the latter, less so at the former). Notably it's a far less common sight on London roads than any of these rivals, so probably gets more glances than those cars. Overall, I can't think of a car I'd have rather bought at this price point. Particularly with 2yr Jaguar warranty on Approved Used cars (extendable to three years if you know how to negotiate), it offers worry free motoring with far more smiles per gallon than you'll find elsewhere at this price point.
