    That I'm an old man (okay 55). Someone who wants luxury/speed/etc. at an affordable price.

    I have no idea, and don't care.

    Would you buy this car again and why?

    No, had one, move on. It not been the cheapest car to own what with repairs (cheapest to own goes to two Nissan 3.0 QXs - never went wrong, fast, effortless, bland, under-rated - but not as much fun).

    What are you likely to buy next?

    I'm thinking about an XK8.

    Did you get a good deal and why?

    Thought I paid a reasonable price for the car. At the point of sale it had only done 33k miles.

    Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

    I wanted a toy. Used to own a TR4A in my youth. Tried a TR6. Forgotton how uncomfortable/drafty/noisy/cramped/poor handling they were. Sense prevailed, wanted sporty/comfortable/aircon/automatic. Ended up using the XJS every day.

    What's it like to drive?

    Back end can be light in the wet, otherwise goes round corners well for its size (and weight). Its forte is long distance cruising. On a run it will do 25mpg at 70+. At 90ish its pulling 3,000rpm - lazy.

    What's it like to park?

    Its big and long, can't see rear end. Have scrapes both front and rear. Stay away from supermarket car parks (or use two slots). Have thought about aftermarket parking sensors.

    Have you had any problems with the car?

    Unfortunately a few things. Knocking from front suspension (subframe mounts and front shockers) +£500, aircon compressor +£500. Currently in garage, gearbox having dumped all fluid on road, expecting expensive bill. Other than these 'one-offs' has been reasonably cheap to maintain.

    What's most practical about your car?

    Effortless motorway cruiser. Can get out after over 6 hours with a back that works. Try that in a Jazz (I've got one)!! Reliable in spite of comments above, always starts. Also practical - a galvanised body on facelift models - no rust, can't say that for the early models!!

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

    Has to be the interior - love the leather and wood. Try hide food on the leather and it smells wonderful.
