In their own words

I researched the contender brands in this price range very closely and test drove my shortlisted new BMW X3, the Mercedes GLC and the Volvo XC60. All very nice cars but all had some flaws that turned me off them. In respect of the Mercedes was the complete lack of dealer desire to actually sell me a car - bizarre. I have had three Jeeps before and rate them very highly, but I had no intention of buying a vehicle as large as the Jeep Grand Cherokee this time round. I test drove my present Jeep out of curiosity and was blown away. It was as refined as the other brands, offered all the kit the others add as expensive extras, oozes quality despite what some reviewers claim and it can tow a train with ease. The 8 speed auto is seamless and coupled with the compliant suspension and powerful engine result in a relaxed and extremely quiet and comfortable ride. The Summit model adds a full panoramic and electric sliding sunroof with anti collision, blind spot detection, lane departure, reversing camera, front and rear sensor systems. A full size spare wheel, double glazed windows, quality leather unholstery, climate control with front seat ventilation, electric auto rear door, privacy glass, and a simple to use 'Uconnect' infotainment system with a brilliant 19 speaker Harmon Kardon music system. And not to forget this is a proper 4 X 4 with height adjustable suspension, high and low range gear box with hill descent and selectable terrain technology. This is a Jeep after all. Now the price - I went as far as having a quote on a BMW X3 with the intention of buying one. It worked out more expensive than the Jeep with a lot less kit. The BMW was noteably a smaller vehicle, had only a 2.0 engine which frankly did not excite at all and I personaly found the interior design cluttered and the seats hard and uncomfortable. The Mercedes GLC was plain to look at, very expensive to spec up to what I wanted and had a lack lustre drive. The Volvo was stunning inside with quality materials and design but again was the same as the Merc -boring. My diamond black Jeep Cherokee Summit on the other hand draws admiring stares and comments wherever I go. I cannot praise this vehicle enough. The smile on my face when I drive her says it all - luxury and practicality all in one package. And a whole lot of vehicle for your money to boot.
