Overview

The Kia ProCeed is a sleek ‘shooting brake’ style estate car. In case you’ve never heard the term shooting brake, it refers to an estate that shares the proportions of a coupe. Scroll down to the bottom of this page and you’ll see that from the rear it’s definitely less boxy than your run-of-the-mill estate.

It looks interesting, but it gives buyers an interesting conundrum when choosing from the Kia Ceed range. Do they go for practical and capacious Ceed SW estate, the cheaper and still very neat Ceed hatch, the fashionable XCeed crossover or do they step up to the top of the range and opt for this new ProCeed?

It’s not really pitched as a practical model in the same vein as the SW, though its physical size and pricing would see it cross-shopped with the likes of the Ford Focus Estate or Volkswagen Golf Estate. Instead, Kia sees the ProCeed as the budget rival to cars like the Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake. The ProCeed doesn’t have an estate boot to be practical – it has one to be stylish.

There are only three trims for the ProCeed, and they’re all high-end options. This clearly marks the ProCeed out from its Ceed SW stablemate, which is exclusively available with lower-end equipment. This means that all ProCeeds come with Kia’s sporty ‘GT-Line’ styling pack, giving them a more aggressive look, and plenty of equipment including dual-zone climate control, a reversing camera, heated seats, and a large infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.

Unlike some manufacturers, Kia has very few optional extras to add, making choosing a ProCeed easy – and the price you see will nearly always be the price you pay, without any desirable equipment hidden behind an options list paywall. From time to time, Kia also adds special editions to the range, offering added kit and new colours.

The big question is whether there’s enough style to tempt you out of that estate or SUV. Click through these pages to read everything you need to know about the Kia ProCeed including its practicality, how much it costs to run – and whether we’d recommend buying one.
