If you’re planning to do plenty of long-distance journeys then the diesel is your best bet as it manages 62mpg but the pricey premium you pay over petrol models might be off-putting. Insurance groups are average for a car of this size while prices are competitive against alternatives.

Emissions are about average with the 1.4-litre petrol emitting 147g/km of CO2 while the 1.6-litre version is 164g/km. As you’d expect the diesel performs much better and thanks to the use of a start/stop system emissions are just 117g/km meaning a low annual car tax cost of £30.

Kia models tend to be mechanically sound and with the added protection of a seven-year warranty potential buyers should feel confident that they are buying a solid product.
