Other Mazda 6 (2007 - 2012) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

That I like good quality and reliability with a hint of sporty looks and exclusivity.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Impressed with the gadgets and the smooth, quiet ride. They like the sporty look. Front seats slightly too low for some, but rear seats are higher so those with that complaint get to sit in the back !

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes. I'm convinced that my next car will be the latest incarnation of the Mazda 6.

What are you likely to buy next?

    2014 Mazda 6 2.5 Sport.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £10,750

When did you buy the car?

    June 2013

Did you get a good deal and why?

Very good deal. I was willing to drive the extra miles across Wales and England to get the exact model and trim level at the right price.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

High level of equipment and Mazda approved used car scheme.

    What was the dealer like?

Exemplary. Not only an example to all car dealers, but an example to all UK companies on how a business and customer service should be run.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Steering is a little looser than I'm used to and almost feels overly sensative. The ride is firm which is noticable on heavily pitted roads, but most conditions offer a very smooth and comfortable ride. Gear ratios are good, but acceleration is more prominent at higher revs, so change downs required more often than expected on hilly terrain. These are minor criticisms however, and overall it's pleasurable, quiet and relaxing to drive.

    What's it like to park?

Pretty easy thanks to super-power steering and rear parking sensors (required because rear visibility is hampered by a narrow rear window and tail fin).

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

27,000 miles on the clock after 3 years and it feels like new. Buttons are solid and not a single rattle or buzz can be heard anywhere in the cabin. Engine is smooth, reliable and quiet. One wiper blade has needed changing; that's it ! Being a Mazda I expect it to remain in this state for many MOTs to come.

What's most practical about your car?

Huge boot, and with the seats folded down big enough to fit my bike in. Plenty of legroom in the back for adults.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Parking sensors are great, but the award goes to Mazda's cruise control. The latter makes motorway driving safer, more relaxing and cheaper (by avoiding speeding fines).
