In their own words

Having come from a company mondeo to the 6, I had reasonably high expectations, which were challenged from the beginning. Starting with the good, the boot size was good and it had a large tank so that you didn't have to fill up very often. The engine could be decently urgent. This is where the good stops. In the slightest hint of cold weather, you pull out to overtake and as the fuel is thickened by the cold the car starts to cough and die, this was the same with various brands of fuel and was quite nerve racking. The interior was of a very poor quality, the quality of plastic was reminiscent of a tacky 1980s ghetto blaster and anything silver would have the finish rubbed off very quickly. All of the buttons felt like they were put together by someone in a shed in the 3rd world and in general things fell apart. The interior rattled like a load of spanners in a metal dustbin in a gale and out of the 5 we had in the company 4 of them had the interior mirrors drop off frequently and various bits of trim would break and fall off. Engine wise the engine was noisy, the aforementioned issues with the cold and also they all seemed to get slack camchains at about 80k (again 5 vehicles out of the 6) and also various suspension issues earlier than expected. Brake calipers are also an issue on these and my left hand caliper ceased warping the front disks. it took 3 trips to the mazda dealer before they would even acknowledge the problem and when they finally did they replaced the caliper under warranty but left me with discs so warped that you couldnt see if you were holding the steering wheel and braked from 70mph. In short an absolutely terrible car, with quite a poor reliability and durability to it, best steer clear. The cars failure as a decent machine is only surpassed by the dealers who all had an air of being uninterested, unhelpful and wanted to do absolutely nothing to help........on the basis of this alone I would never buy a Mazda ever again.....and on the basis of the car in isolation I would never buy another 6. Steer clear!
