Other Mazda 6 (2007 - 2012) models:

  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

Not much really! Sensible perhaps due to reliability and good fuel economy but with a touch of sportiness.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Smart, stylish compared to most family 5 door hatches and better looking.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes. In fact I've just arranged to P/X it for a later lower mileage 2.5 petrol version. Why? Because current car is well built, has been very reliable and cheap to run. Last service at 4 years old and 65,500 miles cost £199 including an MOT!

What are you likely to buy next?

    2010 Mazda 6 2.5 Sport.

Did you get a good deal and why?

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Level of equipment and Mazda approved used car scheme.

    Fine. Straightforward to deal with.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Handles well, firm but not too hard suspension and excellent perfornance for a diesel family car. Steering lacks feedback and tends to need minor corrections on the motorway. Crisp gearchange and reasonably quiet apart from a lot of road noise on coarse surfaces.

    What's it like to park?

Easy thanks to front and rear parking sensors as standard. Might not be so easy without them as front is hard to judge.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Totally reliable over 67,000 miles apart from a broken tyre valve due to corrosion, a known problem, at around 60,000 miles and a failed wheel bearing at 64,000 miles. All tyre valves replaced under warranty.

What's most practical about your car?

Big boot and plenty of space for 4 or even 5.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Rear vehicle monitoring system which detects vehicles in the blind spot.
