In their own words

As a 2 seat sports car the MX5 is almost perfect. It is nippy in town and easily fast enough out of town for most people. You can track it if that's your thing and not be embarrassed by other machinery. The fuel consumption is very good despite my reasonably aggressive driving (often hitting 7000 revs in the first 3 gears). Utterly reliable although you do need to follow the manufacturer guideline for lowering the roof and ignore all the journalists and road testers. The car can be a bit noisy on motorways but that's the process of a soft top. Having said that I have owned a Porsche coupe that was no quieter. The engine is very smooth, free revving and has plenty of torque for both acceleration and engine braking. The gearbox is a delight to use, slick with nice short throw. The tech is ok. Bluetooth works well and the speakers in the head restraint are excellent for phone calls roof upper down. The nav is a bit clunky and many people would (if they use nav frequently) would do well to pay extra for android auto or apply car play if not already fitted.
