  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

Someone who understands luxury and comfort and has made it.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Love it. They think I am some hot shot.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes. I would upgrade to the E350 AMG automatic for an easier driver and for smoother driving experience. Shame it is not All Wheel Drive though.

What are you likely to buy next?

Mercedes CLS 350 Shooting Brake or Audi Avant A6 (current).

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £22,000

When did you buy the car?

    October 2011

Did you get a good deal and why?

Deal was very good compared to other Mercedes E250 CDI Blue Efficiency cars on sale at that time. One of the cheapest.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Always wanted a Mercedes Benz and preferred this style over previous.

    What was the dealer like?

Dealer was helpful though some information was a little incorrect but upon research I found the technical details. Transaction was effortless and they delivered and collected the old car though they hadn't cleaned the Mercedes car when they said they would.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Absolutely heaven on the motorway. Completely comforting and people just fall asleep as it soaks up the bumps on the road. However, as a driver it drives like a tank around town due to the weight, manual gears - a faux pax on my side, and size. Luckily I got used the to size very quickly having driven other large cars.

    What's it like to park?

Parking is a breeze but you have to be mindful of the width and nose as it is bigger than you think. Otherwise no problems at all from the immediate outset. The constant on all round sensors and are incredibly useful. I would recommend all round or rear camera on newer models to make it even easier. Because of the size, don't expect to 'swing' the car round in tight multi storey car parks.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

A couple of issues. The first being that the left rear passenger door handle mechanism broke on a normal warm day. The internal cabling inside and handle hinge broke and we just opened the door as normal. The issue got fixed under the manufacturer's warranty luckily. Second, there was a scratching sound coming from the right side of the car as if something got stuck but the Mercedes mechanics could find no fault or issue and brakes were fine.

What's most practical about your car?

The best practicality is taking passengers as there is plenty of space inside, lots of cubby space and boot space was excellent for a saloon.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Best thing was the cubby storage around the car, satellite navigation and auto boot opening with the key. The command system was also brilliant but shame it hadn't had blue tooth to hook up your phone with the version I had.
