Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class (2015 - 2022) GLC 250d AMG Line Premium 5d Auto Owner Review

GLC 250d AMG Line Premium 5d Auto

In their own words

Overall I am disappointed with this car. I have had an E220 prior to this and a C350 before that so I have certain expectations of Mercedes vehicles. Lets start with the positives, the vehicle looks good and on the 20 inch rims has a relatively high, comfortable ride. As usual the build and interior quality are excellent and there is a high level of equipment. The 250 has a little more pace than the 220 (even though they are the same engine but they squeeze a little more out of it in the 250). The choice of drive modes covers most driving preferences and the fuel economy is satisfactory for a large vehicle like this. Now the negatives. Although I only really have 2 at the moment one of them is big enough to warrant such a low mark. The first one is the SatNav. I understand that it is unfair to compare this with the Command that I had in the E class but this is Sooooo Sloooow to calculate and report traffic issues on route that it renders almost useless if you try to deviate from the original programmed route. The second is the more commonly reported tyre scrubbing and crabbing and boy what a PR disaster this is. The crabbing and tyre scrubbing experienced whilst manoeuvring at low speed such as turning in confined spaces or car parks is excruciating! As with another post here there are many, many instances of this having been reported and there is even a dedicated website for it. I cannot believe that this has never been highlighted or experienced by any of the professional car review sites, or if it has they have been told not to flag it. The handling of this by Mercedes by labelling it 'a comfort issue' and not a safety issue (although the issue is not prevalent on the left hand drive models!) and stating the only solution is to fit all weather tyres has been enough to put me off buying Mercedes ever again.
