Other MG ZT (2001 - 2004) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

Really wanted an S-type Jag but couldn't afford it.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They think it's quirky - favourite quote "It looks like a Rover 75 in a little black dress".

Would you buy this car again and why?

Becoming harder to find these days, especially one as well specced as the one I own. Unlikely to buy another as it would make more sense to keep the one I have and just upgrade it.

What are you likely to buy next?

Haven't found anything quite as quirky as the ZT so will be keeping my hand in my pocket for now.

    £2,000

    March 2011

Did you get a good deal and why?

Bought from a local guy who it turns out had been a little economical with his truths.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Tight budget and wanted a decent sized diesel saloon (ideally an Audi/BMW) without paying a stupid premium.

    What was the dealer like?

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Great fun when you open her up on the A-roads. Can be a little bit heavy around town but effortlessly cruises on motorways.

    What's it like to park?

Parking sensors help and it fits in all spaces except in car parks built during the 70s.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Four major items have required replacing but, reading on the MG owners' website - they were all known faults that diesel ZTs suffer from at old age.

What's most practical about your car?

Big boot, four doors, plenty of rear space for three adults and pretty well specced up.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Reversing parking sensors - like mobile phones, don't know how I coped without them!
