• Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

Natural progression from real Minis but not really. I've sold it and kept with the old ones.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

A bit impractical but I had to give one a go.

Would you buy this car again and why?

No, overpriced, and finnicky especially the windows that go up and down everytime you open a door. Only a matter of time before that fails and absolutely useless feature in icy weather.

What are you likely to buy next?

I run several cars including Range Rovers and my old Minis (Summer only). I do need an every day town runabout though - new Corsa maybe??

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £10,000

When did you buy the car?

    November 2008

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes, good price for trade in (given it was actually a newer Clio) and came complete with a year's tax and full tank.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Fancied giving one a try,it looked good and the price was right.

    What was the dealer like?

Full of the usual stuff, offered all sorts of extra priced options which at the end of the day would have cost a thousand for no return whatsoever including a fancy name for a good polish and set of mats which was about £300!!

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Nimble but a bit harsh with the run flat tyres. Responsive and good at cruising speed.

    What's it like to park?

Easy, like most cars. Get to know a vehicle's extremities and you're half way there. Good all round view and seat adjustable for shorter drivers so no excuses for kerbing or bumping the car in front.

  • Living with it

    3 out of 5 3.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

No it has been a reliable car. I heard the stories about the gearboxes however the R56 with the 6 speed promised to have all that sorted.

What's most practical about your car?

Fuel economy. Surprising for a 1.6 and better than the Clio 1.2 I traded although the Clio had a far superior sized interior. Having said that it was a solid, heavy car.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Difficult to say as it is full of unusual things. Ambient lighting I suppose if pushed but a bit pointless.
