    Value

    4 out of 5 4.0

Bought a 6 y/o 42000 mile one for £4200 in Aug 2003, a good price for quite a lot of car.

    Costs

    1 out of 5 1.0

Parts are expensive, and pattern parts not all that common. Loves to drink the petrol and runs best on Shell Optimax, loves eating brake discs and ball joints on front end (the 3rd set of front discs are now warped and the rears needed replaced a last yr.

  • On the road

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Good fun, a bit big and bouncy, for some reason it likes to lose the rear end on greasy corners, a bit clunky and rattly at times, but the engine sounds great when you get it above 4000RPM and likes to be revved.

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

OK, wish it was quicker, would like to try the turbo model, will go well over 130 and seems to enjoy a good thrash, handles OK considering the size but a little bit bouncy at times. Predictable though with plenty warning if its going to get out of shape.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    2 out of 5 2.0

Front hubs BOTH went within 2000 miles of each other at £140 each, has had all the ballpoints on front suspension replaced, AND the Track rod ends, the 3rd set of front discs are warped and is on second set of rear discs. ABS went AWOL but is sorted now

Well, I like it and I don't care if anyone else does.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Fine, good, a bit of backache on longer journeys but I have a bad back anyway.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

Well, its not been stolen, I don't know if its worth stealing.

    Service

    2 out of 5 2.0

Expensive, so I do it myself when I can be bothered.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

Up to 85,000 miles not, a little clacketty when cold but fine when warm, sounds good when kicked on a bit.

    Other

ABS. Stopped working, the toothed ring on the CV joint seems to corrode and break causing malfunction and you cant get just the ring, only whole CV joint (£100+). Clean it, weld ring, re-cut teeth with angle grinder, SORTED!
