Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

In their own words

A brilliant family car that gets unfairly compared to the Evo despite the fact that it’s not trying to be, nor is it anywhere near their price tags (Hence the review). I have a small family and we can easily fit a pram plus luggage in the boot with the floor all the way down. The biggest issue is the sloppy gearbox, I still have issues getting into reverse and this is after full inspections. The car was unfortunately built like this. Engine is also slightly underpowered though offers decent economy returns for a petrol, I recently managed 49.4 on a recent 2 hour M1 run!. In conclusion what most fail to realise is it was cheaper than its competitors and offered way more gadgets at that price point upon launch. If you can get a well kept one it’s worth it, I couldn’t be happier. Just look out for rotting sills as they’re a common issue on these.

How reliable do you find the car?

Owned for four months now and been trouble free, only had to replace wiper blades up to now!. Only issue I find is the sloppy gearbox. Reverse can be hard to engage due to no synchro and fifth isn’t the most satisfying to get into. I actually believed there was an issue with the car but it turns out this is just how the gears feel in this particular model! They were like this from new.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

Even though I have the base model, it’s well equipped given its competitors of the time. Power folding mirrors, fully digital trip counter, climate control etc. The only thing that dates the car hugely is it’s stereo which ages the cabin considerably. Very simple and even back in 2010 wouldn’t have sufficed.
