Morgan Four-Four & Plus Four 4 Seater (04/15 on) 2d Owner Review

Morgan Plus Four 1970-

In their own words

This is an ideal second car for someone who enjoys driving a proper sporting motor car. You'll need proper driving skills (have to learn again if you're younger than sixty and have grown up with modern cars). It's entirely unsuitable for everyday transport if you need full weather protection or an easy drive. Need to be fairly flexible to get in and out with the hood up. So it can be a challenge, and sometimes an effort, but nothing compares to looking along the long, low bonnet through the tiny windscreen above the high dashboard to see a winding country road stretching away to the front, then driving through a bend much more on gears and power than on the steering wheel.

How reliable do you find the car?

Actually car has been very reliable, but had one issue beyond AA or standard mechanic. An older, experienced auto electrician sorted it quickly - just a relay failure.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

This is a sporting motor car with ultimate style not a modern sports car. I expected it to have all the challenges as well as true motoring joy of a traditional vehicle, and it has given me that in buckets. Entirely unsuitable for anyone needing everyday transportation or all the easy convenience of a modern vehicle. For goodness sake, the handbook talks of "erecting the weather equipment" not simply putting up the hood. Four seater is really a 2+2 - two adults and two kids.
