Nissan Leaf electric car review

Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

In their own words

Love the electric motor but would go for the bigger battery for the longer range if buying again. The acceleration and push in the back when pushing the pedal at any speed is instant- no need to worry about which gear you are in or waiting for kickdown, the power and torque are there at any speed. Overtaking is a cinch and much safer. The e-pedal function only takes a few miles to get used to and is a great feature- push to accelerate, lift to brake. It will even stop you on a hill if you lift off completely- I much prefer this to a std auto mode (which creeps if you lift off at standstill) though you can turn it (the e-pedal) off if you want. Ride is good and cabin is a good size for me (i'm 6'2"). Plenty of room in the boot for the dog, though carrying the charge cables around does take a bit of that space. On the downside, I had a qashqai before this and although supposedly the same tekna spec, this car is missing a few of the plus points of the earlier car (electric seats, panoramic roof, adjustable steering reach to name a few) I suppose some of that would be to save weight, but personally I would have preferred the comforts.

How reliable do you find the car?

Handbrake recall. Couple of ongoing issues with info system- Incoming Txt messages lock up the screen if you use the call back option, phonebook downloads to car but doesn't display so cant pick who to call from list. Map sometimes fails to load and left with a black screen (easily fixed by "menu->map")

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

Love the motor. Torque and acceleration are great and dont notice the low top speed. E-pedal is great and should be on every car. Disappointed with the winter range- lucky to get 100 miles on a charge when around 0 degrees but 160-170 in summer is fine. Seat not as comfy as the Qashqai it replaced.
