In their own words

The lively 1.6 engine is almost silent on tick over but gives a satisfying sound accelerating , especially with the roof down. The gearing is designed for swift "urban" use but on longer high speed journeys you will be looking for the (missing) next gear. The interior is ergonomic and simple (and enough!), the seats are broad and comfy, with adjustable headrests, though the back seats lack leg room if you have the fronts fully back. The boot space is HUGE for a car of this size, due to its raised boot height, required to accommodate the metal and glass fold back roof, but still has room enough for weekly shopping when down. The folding roof mechanism is ingenuous, fully automatic and reliable for the 3 years we have owned this car, though THERE IS A NEED to keep all sealing rubber clean (with boot polish for us) if minor roof leaks are to be avoided. I would also recommend the rubber channelling be flushed at least once a year. The heater is strong and the air conditioning is powerful, cooling us without fuss (roof up) in the 40C heat of a trip to southern Spain, though when on you can feel the drag of the compressor with slight lack of drive power. Overall I recommend this car, even with higher mileage, as with care and a light foot it will return at least 55mpg on longer (non urban) journeys. For those that care there are storage spaces "everywhere" and a car safe under the passenger seat. Paint finish is very good (no orange peel!) and the ariel is detachable for a car wash, it has a good radio and CD with full controls on the steering wheel. In summary: A good and reliable zippy car that looks best in black or dark grey, and best suited to town use in rain or sun by those who are still young at heart, whose natural competitors I would give as Peugeot CC or the Daihatsu Copen. Upside: Cheap to buy, cheap to run, distinctive styling, no gremlins. Downside: Deemed by some to be a "woman's car".
