Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 25 - 35 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

The Murano represents good value with a comprehensive list of standard equipment. The diesel returns an avarage of 35.3mpg but owners of the petrol model will lucky to see much more than 20mpg. Nissan servicing is good value too, but service intervals on the petrol are just 9,000 miles, whereas the diesel’s intervals are 18,000 miles/two years.

The petrol emits 261g/km of CO2 and returns just 26mpg – an improvement on the previous Murano, but still poor. The diesel is much more planet-friendly, emitting 210g/km of CO2.

The Murano uses many components proven in other Nissan models worldwide and should be very reliable.
