Other Peugeot 406 (1996 - 2004) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

I don't know, but its grate that everyone thinks the 406 estate has to be a 2litre (and there again when you open up the 2.2 litre TD Caravan club class winning tow car (with nothing on tow) it strides away.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Kids love it. Wife is impressed that this 13 year old car has better aircon than her 2012 car, and its not had a new compressor.

Would you buy this car again and why?

This car was made when estates were estates and does not have stupid low back roof. Find me another 2.2 diesel that tows so well, has 7 seats, can take a roof box on top and still get under a height barrier and can knock out 49mpg cruising at 70mph, includes loads of extras as standard and I'll recommend that instead.

What are you likely to buy next?

    Has to be peugeot.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

I love this car - it had terrible cheap and odd tyres when purchased but didn't show it on the road. Once sorted with new tyres its even quieter.

    What's it like to park?

    Easy

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

Lots of faults with this 131k car but generally fixable.A shame the front springs went but not unusual.

What's most practical about your car?

Having added the Peugeot 7 seat conversion and with a factory fit tow bar and roof bars there's little the car cannot do.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Cruise control makes this car a delight.
