The Clio makes an excellent used buy although the best examples tend to stay within the Renault dealer network. Car supermarkets are another place to look but avoid entry-level models or those with high miles. Diesel versions are better if you plan on covering more than town miles although the petrols (with the exception of the 2.0-litre) are all very economical.
If you’re after the facelifted model these were introduced in May 2009 so will only be available on an 09-plate or later. Pre-facelifted models will also be cheaper to buy used.
The new Clio is stylish, spacious and safe. It should be easy to sell - especially to those who have just passed their tests. The well equipped Dynamique models are the most sought after while the dCi models will always be able to command a premium over a similar spec petrol car.
