What does this car say about you?

I think the car said nothing about me - a very bland faceless vehicle with no personality at all.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

    Not really sure.

Would you buy this car again and why?

I will NEVER buy another Renault as long as I live, especially a Scenic, and will never recommend Renaults to anybody. This is the second Renualt that I have owned since passing my test - both were incredibly unreliable!

What are you likely to buy next?

I have now bought a 3 series BMW - a car that was built properly in the first place, and does not have bits falling off it every week. The French car makers could learn a thing or two from the Germans!

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £1,000

When did you buy the car?

    May 2008

Did you get a good deal and why?

At the time I thought that I got a reasonable deal but the problems with the car started from day one!

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Bought the car as I have two children and thought that it would be a good practical family car.

    What was the dealer like?

The dealer concerned seemed fairly honest but as it turned out was quite happy to sell me an abused car that had not been checked properly before advertising it.

  • Driving it

    1 out of 5 1.0

    What's it like to drive?

VERY slow, overtaking almost impossibly dangerous. High driving position did give good view of the road ahead. Body roll when going round corners at more than 5mph.

    What's it like to park?

Easy to park even though quite a large car.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

What didn't go wrong! Cooling system problems from day one that turned into head gasket failure and hundreds of pounds spent. Numerous other problems, including sensors, door lock failure, etc. Finally gave up on the car when the automatic gearbox developed a fault and was told by a Renault specialist that it would nearly £2000 for another gearbox!

What's most practical about your car?

Liked the space inside the car and the boot space was excellent. If the Scenic had been made by the Germans it would have been a fantastic car. French cars seem to be traditionally very fragile and unreliable.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

    Folding/removable seats
