Other Renault Megane (2006 - 2009) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

    Sporty, Unique yet presentable individual.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Very Smart. Eye Catching. Doing well for self.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes. I'd buy this exact car again apart from with a bigger engine. Probably the 1.9 diesel as people often recommend as good on fuel, tax and insurance is reasonable.

What are you likely to buy next?

Another CC I think. Who knows maybe another Megane if the right one pops up in a few years time with the right spec.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £3,695

When did you buy the car?

    February 2014

Did you get a good deal and why?

Dealer would not budge on price what so ever. So had to think what else I could get if not money off. Proposed my own dealer package and they agreed. This included: 6 Months Road Tax (£110) 12 Month Warranty Service Brand New MOT and to see to a few other bits and bobs that needed minor attention on the car found whilst inspecting/ on the test drive.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Full Red Leather Interior and Trim against Gloss Black Exterior.

    What was the dealer like?

Friendly and helpful initially. Could have known a little more about the car itself to be honest. But I had done my own research fortunately. NOTE: After sales customer care very poor, warranty is useless.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

1.6VVT 111bhp engine lacks power given the size and weight of the car and this is definitely felt if driving in hilly areas. Acceleration therefore isn't fantastic but once up to speed on say motorways it does ok.

    What's it like to park?

Big car with long bonnet and big fat bum in my opinion. Looks great but makes parking that little bit harder especially if you don't have parking sensors fitted, which I don't.

Have you had any problems with the car?

Battery gave up after leaving the car standing for just over a day. Discovered however was original Renault fit battery from new and to be fair the car had been sitting on a forecourt so a dead battery was to be expected in a way. Also Air Conditioning was faulty. I had noticed it was blowing out warm air when it should have been cold during the test drive, mentioned this to the dealer, and they said they'd get it fixed. However it worked for no more than 3 days before it was back to being warm again. After months of argument, phone calls and emails I did finally get the problem fixed correctly via a main Renault dealership costing me all in all £650.

What's most practical about your car?

Huge boot (when roof up). Very comfortable on long journeys in particular.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Given the car in question it has to be of course the retractable hard top roof! Also love the full red leather interior.
