Other Saab 9-3 (1998 - 2003) models:

  • Summary

    3 out of 5 3.0

What does this car say about you?

People either love it or hate it, reaction is from one extreme to the other. Make your own mind up, don't listen to others!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

'I always wanted one of those', or... 'All the styling of a brick', just a few comments I've had. 'Ooh It's quick', after you let them pilot it.

Would you buy this car again and why?

I'd buy one as a safe, dependable, town car / commuter. Looking for something with more driver pleasure now.

What are you likely to buy next?

Either a 3 series BMW, Impreza or 20v Turbo Fiat Coupe.

  • Buying experience

    4 out of 5 4.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Didn't buy from a dealer

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £3,200

When did you buy the car?

    September 2006

Did you get a good deal and why?

Bargain compaired to other vehicles of similar spec. No faults, low milage and all leather.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Full history, Low mileage, 185bhp and all extras. Ever since the 900 turbo I've fancied a Saab.

    What was the dealer like?

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Around town it's nice and comfortable to drive, visability is good and there are no rattles or squeaks. Struggles with traction on the open road. Performance is brisk but you can't use the power with confidence, I wouldn't touch a HOT one.

    What's it like to park?

    No problems

  • Living with it

    3 out of 5 3.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Dash board display that shows clock, fuel computer etc has some lines of text missing. Went to replace shock absorbers and found front offside strut in 2 pieces due to corrosion, common fault apparently. (£400 new or £60 from breakers)

What's most practical about your car?

Seats 4 in comfort. Rear seats fold down allowing hatch back to be used to full potential.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Turbo has to be my favourite part. Use cruise control through motorway roadworks... then turn it off and enjoy.
