The diesels come with low CO2 emissions, with the 140bhp choice emitting just 146g/km and achieving a reasonable 51.3mpg, while the petrol returns a reasonable 39.2g/km and emissions of 167g/km. The entry-level 2.0-litre diesel two-wheel drive model is a flexible and smooth engine that’s capable of averaging more than 50mpg, ideal for long distance drivers.

If you intend to carry lots of people or equipment then it’s worth opting for the more powerful 140bhp or 170bhp version.

On the environmental front SEAT has improved the car with the entry level diesel engine dropping from 159g/km down to 146g/km. The introduction of stop/start on all models has also helped improve the both emissions and fuel economy.
