SEAT Ibiza (2002 - 2009) 1.2 Reference 5d Owner Review

Bought as a first car. Good points: Nippy, cheap to insure, great fuel economy, reliable across the two years of ownership, decent equipment, more stylish than other small cars of its time and great handling. Bad points: Firm suspension, front wheel arch prone to corrosion, timing chain slipped eventually ruining the engine. After the death of this car I immediately bought another Ibiza only this time in the 1.4 version. The 1.4 has a cambelt not a timing chain so it avoids the timing chain slipping fault that is very common on these cars. I would recommend the 1.4 but the 1.2 version is still a fantastic little car that was a pleasure to own throughout the duration of its life.
