The Mii has been crash tested by safety governing body EuroNCAP, and received the top mark of five stars. This is largely thanks to the high level of safety equipment fitted on the car including front and side head/thorax airbags. A system called City Emergency Braking system is available as part of the optional driver’s assistance pack. This kit works at speeds of less than 18mph and uses a laser to detect the risk of an impending collision and can apply braking automatically.

Load space is competitive, at 251 litres with the rear seats in place, offering 66 litres more than the Fiat 500. Fold the seats flat and the boot space expands to 951 litres, that’s more space than you’d get in a Ford KA and is easily enough space for a set of golf clubs or the weekly shop. Initially the Mii will be only be available in three-door mode but a five-door version will be added to the line-up at a later date.

Space is at a premium in the cabin. The door pockets are shallow and thin while there are very few places to keep other loose items like your phone or wallet.
