How much is it going to cost to run?
All Taraccos are powered by the Volkswagen Group’s brilliant range of petrol and diesel engines. The entry-level 1.5-litre petrol is capable of delivering great fuel consumption, even if it has its work cut out when loaded. That would explain the competitive 4.4 - 6.7mpp figures across the board.
MPG and CO2
Petrol
- 1.5-litre 150 TSI: 36.7-41.5mpg, 155g/km CO2
- 1.5-litre 150 TSI DSG: 34.9-39.2mpg, 165g/km CO2
- 2.0-litre 190 4Drive TSI: 32.5-34.9mpg, 184g/km CO2
- 2.0-litre 245 4Drive TSI: 30.7-32.8mpg, 195g/km CO2
Diesel
- 2.0-litre 150 TDI: 47.1-52.3mpg, 142g/km CO2
- 2.0-litre 150 TDI DSG: 47.1-51.4mpg, 144g/km CO2
- 2.0-litre 200 4Drive TDI: 40.4-42.8mpg, 172g/km CO2
Under the ‘real world’ WLTP official fuel efficiency testing regime, the most economical versions to consider is the lower-powered 2.0 TDI. Best of the petrols are the 1.5-litre 130 TSI versions in manual or auto form.
Emissions for the Tarraco kick off with 142g/km for the 150hp 2.0 TDI, and max out at 195g/km for the 2.0 TSI 245 – reflecting that this offers very brisk performance.
Servicing and maintenance
SEAT has more than 100 dealers in the UK. Customer service is rated highly, and in the 2019 JD Power Vehicle Dependability Study, SEAT scored a better-than-average 117 faults per 100 cars – trailing sister brand Skoda and Volkswagen, but beating Audi.
SEAT offers Service and Maintenance Plans which will offset the cost of future servicing against an upfront payment, often built-in to the finance agreement. The advantage of these is that they will protect you against any future increase in servicing costs, and all work carried out comes with two years warranty.
Is it reliable?
- The Tarraco uses familiar tech
- Engines found in many, many other VW Group cars
- Feels solidly built and like it’ll last
The SEAT Tarraco uses components that have been in service for a good few years now, most notably the engines and transmissions. There should be little to worry about for now, and the touchscreen tech has also been utilised in the firm’s cars for a while – and proved better in use than the latest system used in the Leon.
The Tarraco comes with a three-year, 60,000-mile warranty.
