Other Skoda Fabia (2000 - 2007) models:

  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

Performance for great Value for Money

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

G'friend thought it was great (as did pretty much everybody else).

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes - but condition is king (especially the cream interior - which shows dirt really easily).

What are you likely to buy next?

I struggled to replace this car. I considered: Octavia VRS, BMW 118D/120D, Seat Leon FR (my current car).

  • Buying experience

    5 out of 5 5.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Didn't buy from a dealer

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £12,000

When did you buy the car?

    August 2005

Did you get a good deal and why?

    Supplied through Company Car Provider.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I had the VRS as a company car. As a CC is represented a really good combination of performance, low emissions and low list price.

    What was the dealer like?

I used a couple of dealers for servicing; Southampton Skoda - now closed; and Fareham Skoda - average service.

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

Engine is excellent. It combines great economy (average of 45 mpg) with strong performance. Torque delivery is entertaining and makes for good motorway driving. Handling is average as steering lacks feel and the car suffers from body roll. Real world performance is excellent.

    What's it like to park?

No probs - good visibility all round

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

The intercooler was replaced within the first 6 months (under warranty) as was a brake disc. In four years (72k miles) the rest has been pretty good. The cream seats were not cream after 4 years.

What's most practical about your car?

The seats fold flat which provides massive load carrying. I was able to easily fit two mountain bikes plus tents etc for a 10 day road trip round Europe.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

My car was standard apart from cruise control (£70 option) which was pretty rubbish (engagement of cruise control was pretty jerky). The seats were probably best bit - very conformtable and provide good hi support.
