Other Skoda Fabia (2007 - 2014) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

It says that I value quality and fun in a car, but will not pay over the top for those things.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

My friends and colleagues sigh at the 'wide boy' appearance, but most of them admire the choice of a Skoda instead of, say, a BMW or Audi etc

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes. Build quality is excellent, driving experience is satisfyingly varied; the car will 'pootle' along in 7th gear at 50mph or will kick down via the DSG box to 4th from 7th without any fuss, should that rapid overtaking move become necessary.

What are you likely to buy next?

Dependent entirely upon insurance costs, to be honest.

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    £0

When did you buy the car?

    July 2011

Did you get a good deal and why?

Reasonable deal, not fantastic. Car came with lots of additonal goodies.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Wanted practicality and performance, but without paying premium prices associated with German manufacturers.

    What was the dealer like?

A bit busy and rushed, but fairly helpful.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

It's lovely to drive...nippy, brilliant performance across the rev range. Handling is good, compared to most other cars of this size and type. The seats are very supportive and comfortable.

    What's it like to park?

Hmmm...this has taken me a little while to get comfortable with, and I would not be happy without the rear parking sensors.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Nothing has gone wrong yet, but I have only done 1500 miles! Build quality seems high, despite usage of low-grade plastics in some places.

What's most practical about your car?

After a Smart Roadster, EVERYTHING is practical! The boot is a good size, and the Amundsen factory-fitted satnav is excellent. Steering wheel adjustable for rake and reach.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The radio, the satnav, the onboard computer are all useful and good quality items. I particularly like the reverse parking sensors, which are allied to a display on the satnav screen, to show exactly how close you are.
