Skoda Octavia Hatchback (2004 - 2012) 1.6 FSI Ambiente 5d Owner Review

Very well built, solid car. I purchased this privately in 2014 for a mere £2k from the 1st owner with 59k miles. Very good for a 9 year old car at the time. I have only covered 20k miles in the 5 years that I have had the car, which has been mostly town driving. In that time I've had the brakes replaced all round (pads & discs), a front spring replaced, a new battery, one of the rear tailgate things that keep the boot open (cheap from ebay), 2 new tyres, both rear brake calipers, spark plugs & 2 ignition coils. At almost 14 years old, it is still a very solid car with no visible rust (just a couple of bubbles starting to show on the bottom of drivers door, nothing on arches, etc). It has currently done 79k miles. Has mostly always started with a bit of a rattly noise for a few seconds, which I have always suspected it to be either the timing chain, or chain tensioner. Still a very comfortable car, which feels solid on the road. Good to drive, holds corners well and is quiet.
