What does this car say about you?

That I'm not fooled by badges and the Audi and VW owners can mock all they like, I've got a much better car for less money. I had a Mondeo before this but the Superb is light years ahead in terms of performance, build, and kit.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

A few jokes about Skodas came my way apart from those who have a decent knowledge of cars. All were impressed on actually seeing it and sitting in it.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Definitely, although I'd try and get the newer model.

What are you likely to buy next?

Will keep this one for a while, but I'd have another superb.

Did you get a good deal and why?

Quite a good deal. Decent price, came with a service, MOT, valet, full service history and a decent warranty. Was also happy for us to take the car to our local mechanic for an independent inspection.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Needed a comfortable and reliable car family car with good performance/economy that wouldn't break the bank.

What was the dealer like?

Friendly and not pushy.

What's it like to drive?

Effortless. Very comfortable and almost silent around town, it really glides over all but the very worst road surfaces. Not designed to be hurled around corners but it really comes into its own on the motorway and A-roads. Acceleration is quick and it will cruise comfortably at 90+ without straining the engine, and not a rattle or a squeak to be heard even after 70k miles.

What's it like to park?

It is a big car, 4 inches longer than the Passat it was based on. I drive vans at work so didn't find it a problem but some might struggle. The standard parking sensors make it easy but they break very often. Skoda want £90 for each sensor but you can get an entire kit from Ebay for £16 to do the job.

Have you had any problems with the car?

Nothing. The rear parking sensors don't work (common fault on Superbs/Passats/A4s of this era) but we knew that when we bought it. Otherwise it's like clockwork. In every MOT over 6 years it has only ever had one advisory and that was for a new tyre 4 years ago.

What's most practical about your car?

Huge boot and enormous comfortable interior together with a good turn of speed.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The turbo! Really useful for making progress on the motorway and surprises a few boy racers around town.
